A hair transplant may cost you ₹1 lakh, ₹2 lakh, or more depending on the number of grafts and the clinic.
But what happens 5 or 10 years later?

A hair transplant attempts to restore hair by moving hair follicles from one part of your scalp to another. SMP works differently.
Scalp Micropigmentation uses tiny pigment deposits in the scalp to create the appearance of hair follicles. It can make the scalp look more denser, reduce the contrast between your scalp and existing hair, and recreate the appearance of a closely shaved hairstyle.
So SMP does not “grow hair”.
And a hair transplant does not necessarily stop future hair loss.
That difference becomes important when you look at the long-term cost.
Let's take a simple example. Suppose someone spends ₹ 1.5 lakh on their first hair transplant.
It may seem like the problem is solved. But your existing, non-transplanted hair can continue to thin. That can lead to additional expenses.

Instead of surgically moving follicles, SMP creates the visual appearance of follicles using specialised pigmentation. A typical SMP treatment is performed over multiple sessions.
